Drumming System Review
This huge package of drum lessons contains 20 DVD’s, 15 play along CD’s, 5 spiral bound work along books and bonuses including – A personal drumming critique lesson, free drumming coaching and two bonus DVD’s (one handed drum roll & drum buyers guide).
What I really like about the drumming system is as well providing a huge amount of DVD and workbook based lessons you also get access to live online drum lessons with the ability to give direct feedback to the teacher as well as live question and answer lessons allowing you to communicate directly with the drum teachers. There is currently no other drum system that offers this (that I’m aware of).
As well as receiving the DVD’s you will also get access to everything online so you can easily pick and choose which lessons you want to watch from your laptop or computer. Above you can see a screen shot from the advanced drum fills section.

Mike Michalkow Drumming System Review – What it looks like on the inside
To the side you can view screen shots from the DVD’s, Workbooks and online access (you get all three as standard with the purchase).
The first picture (click to enlarge) shows a clip from the lesson “Heavy Metal – intermediate” this particular lesson alone teaches you ten different drum beats and that’s not including the other 22 videos found in the same DVD (Heavy rock).
As well as the DVD’s you get spiral bound work along books and MP3 tracks (with and without a click) allowing you to play along once you’ve seen Mike play the beat. The last photo on the right shows the written material corrasponding with the intermediate heavy metal video.
The bottom left photo shows a screen shot of me visiting the Drum fills section, you can see the links on the right hand side allow for easy navigation and really let you pick and choose from what you want to learn so as well as having access to the live drum lessons you can view all the DVD tracks you own without having to load up the physical DVD’s into your player.

What’s it like?
Personally I can’t recommend Mike Michalkow drumming system enough whether that’s because of the HUGE amount of videos you get or the access to the drumming system online community there really is no drum tuition as good as the Drumming System.
On receiving the drumming system the first thing you’ll want to do is pick up the quick start guide which tells you where to go and what to watch first (they recommend starting from the beginning).
The video lessons are shown from four different angles with the notation shown over the top of the video and the four split screens showing each of the four different angles (Hi-Hat/Snare view, Kick view, Side view and a Top view) so you can really see everything Mike is playing, this is great as often I’ve seen drum videos in the past and thought well that sounds good but what’s he doing with his foot? With the drumming system you’ll never have this concern.
The DVDs each have there own theme for example “Drum Fills” or “Heavy Rock” with each DVD containing separate video lessons for example the Drum Fills DVD contains lessons such as “Drum fill basics”, “Jazz Drum fills” and “Adv. Hand to feet combos” with each lesson having their own separate video and section in the work along book, in the videos Mike talks you through the section and plays the appropriate beats & fills which you can either follow along with directly or do so after with the help of the workbooks and/or .mp3 tracks.
What keeps surprising me is the length and detail Mike goes into within the lessons, in the advanced drum fills video alone he shows you how to play 50 different fills and that’s only one video!

Cons Of The Drumming System Review
Our drumming system review finds two main downsides of the drumming system the first is since there is such a huge amount of DVD’s, audio tracks and workbooks it may seem daunting when you first begin and the second downside is that the system may take you longer to complete than other drum courses however it’s important to remember you’ll learn a whole lot more!

Looking through the course watching the videos, listening to the audio clips and participating in the online drum community I’ve come to the conclusion that the drumming system is easily the best drum course available I only wish I’d found it earlier.
